What is Fundamentum
This page covers what Fundamentum is, the five products it is made of, and why teams choose it to run their connected-device fleets.
Fundamentum is Dimonoff's IoT platform. It connects, operates and turns into value your device fleets: you onboard devices securely, follow their health live, update and control them remotely, route their data to your own systems, and query that data in SQL. Every feature is available through one API, so the web interface, your applications, scripts and AI agents all work the same way. Fundamentum is hardware-agnostic: it accepts payloads in any format, adapts to each device model and firmware version, and supports gateways and LoRaWAN devices.
The products
| Product | What it does for you |
|---|---|
| Hub | Device management. Monitor, control and configure one device or an entire fleet from your browser. |
| Connect | Identity and access. Decide who can reach which devices and what they can do: organizations, projects, users, roles, service accounts and licenses. |
| Insight | A no-code data warehouse. Your IoT data, joined and organized for you, queryable in SQL from any SQL client. |
fun CLI |
Automation and scripting of the whole API, and plain-language operations through AI agents. |
| Edge | Official, optional device-side components for Linux devices and microcontrollers. |
Hub
Hub is the web application your operations team works in, at https://hub.fundamentum-iot.com. It shows your registries, devices and gateways, their connectivity, states and alerts, and lets you send firmware updates, actions and configuration changes. You can also open a remote terminal to a device from the browser.
Connect
Connect is where people and applications sign in, at https://oauth.fundamentum-iot.com. It is a standard OAuth2 server with Google and Microsoft single sign-on, and it holds your organization structure: organizations, projects, licenses, sites and zones, users and their roles, service accounts and their tokens. See Govern access.
Insight
Insight turns device streams into a star schema (fact and dimension tables) in a database dedicated to you. You configure the pipeline, not code it, then connect your BI tool, Grafana or notebook with a standard MySQL-protocol SQL client. See Analyze with Insight.
fun CLI
The fun command-line tool runs on macOS, Linux and Windows. fun login signs you in through your browser, and fun api gives you the whole Public API, generated from its OpenAPI specification, so new endpoints are available without a CLI release. Curated commands cover port forwarding, file transfers and cloud functions. With the Fundamentum skills, an AI agent can drive the CLI for you in plain language. See The fun CLI and AI agents and skills.
Edge
Your devices can talk to Fundamentum with any standard MQTT 5 client over TLS. If you prefer not to write that integration yourself, Edge gives your firmware team ready-made components:
- a daemon for Linux and embedded Linux devices;
- a library for microcontrollers;
- a port-forwarding agent to reach a service on a device behind NAT.
They handle provisioning, telemetry, states, heartbeats, configuration, actions and firmware updates, including on behalf of the sub-devices behind a gateway. See Edge components.
Why Fundamentum
- Secure by design. Each device has its own cryptographic identity, and the platform stores only its public key. Devices are isolated from one another and from other clients. People and applications sign in through OAuth2 with optional SSO, and every Public API call is audited. See Security and trust.
- Hardware-agnostic. Free-form payloads, your own encoders written as cloud functions, a capability model per device type and firmware version, gateways and sub-devices, and LoRaWAN.
- Event-driven. An event-bus backbone keeps device ingestion separate from processing. The Hub updates live, and your systems receive data as it arrives.
- Open. REST, MQTT(S), HTTPS (webhooks and inbound requests), SQL and a CLI. No proprietary client is required.
- Accessible. Plain MQTTS or the official Edge components for your firmware team, and AI agents for your operations team.
- Deploy anywhere. From a laptop to any public cloud. Your own servers and dedicated instances are on the roadmap. See Architecture overview.
- Industrialized. Infrastructure and deployments are defined as code, services are contract-tested, and every change is scanned for vulnerabilities.
- Proven. Dimonoff's flagship product, SCMS, and Spatium run on Fundamentum in production. See In production.
