In production
Fundamentum is not a prototype: Dimonoff runs its own products on it. This page describes the two platforms built on Fundamentum and which capabilities each one relies on.
SCMS: smart lighting management
SCMS is Dimonoff's flagship product, a smart lighting management system. It was entirely rebuilt on Fundamentum: the platform handles the devices, their connectivity and their data, while SCMS focuses on what is specific to lighting.
SCMS uses Fundamentum for:
- Device fleets organized in registries, with gateways and the devices behind them reported as first-class devices.
- Actions: a lighting command is translated by an encoder into each device's format, then sent through the Public API to the device's registry. Fundamentum picks the delivery path and tracks the result device by device.
- Topics: SCMS exchanges its own events with the platform through project topics on the event bus.
- Insight, to query lighting data in SQL for reporting.
- Connect, for sign-in, roles, and inviting users to a license or a site.
Spatium: smart parking
Spatium is Dimonoff's smart parking solution. It tracks the occupancy of parking spots and presents it per zone.
Spatium uses Fundamentum for:
- Connect: sign-in, roles and licenses, so each Spatium customer has its own users.
- Sites and zones: Spatium places its spots and counters in the sites and zones managed by Fundamentum, including floor plans.
- Device registries, to list the devices of each installation.
- The event bus: Spatium consumes device events and its own state streams to update occupancy live.
What this means for you
The capabilities SCMS and Spatium depend on are the same ones described in this documentation and available to you through the Hub, the Public API and the fun CLI. Licenses, in particular, are how both products serve their own customers on a shared project: see Licenses: serve your own customers.
What's next
- Capabilities: what the platform lets you do.
- Govern access: organizations, projects, licenses, sites and zones.
- Operate remotely: actions and encoders, as used by SCMS.
